First step we go through before entering a new chapter is letting go of something old - the same concept applies for de-cluttering items we held for many years, or items we purchased, but never used. This first step is a challenging process but rewarding in the end.
Have you ever felt stuck in the past? I know I have, as it prevents us from moving forward in life.
Unconsciously, we sometimes may not realize the items we carry for years hold stagnant energy, unless we continue to use them, but mostly, those items lay around taking up valuable space.
No doubt, those items are beautiful, even expensive, but do they make us currently feel Alive?
"Goodbye to the Old and Hello to the New" is the motto and mantra to be used during the de-cluttering process.
Letting go of control and surrendering to the ebbs and flow of life is one of the most challenging aspects of being human. We've all been in similar situations where objects became the extention of our identity. The heavy weight we carry onto items act as a physical anchor to our past - moments, people, or past versions of ourselves.
For a couple of years, I held onto clothes and items that reminded me of cherished memories
I shared with loved ones, trips I took, and experiences that shaped me. Letting go of clothes was challenging, even when they no longer fit. It's a classic scenario of hanging onto clothes that are too small, but you hold onto those small items "incase" you may one day fit into those clothes again. Most of the time, it we rarely fit into those clothes again, so we learn to embrace the body we have now and appreciate the present version of ourselves.
Of course, I'm still learning and currently in my comfortable sweater phase, but there is a saying, Once you embrace where you are right now, things starts to naturally shift, and you become more motivated to evolve into a new version of yourself.
In the end, it's shifting how you look at a space. When you see a decluttered and organized area, your environment changes; therefore, your perspective changes as well.
Whenever we decide to do a great purge in our home because we want more space, or decide to move to a new location, we tend to look at our junk and think why'd we carry all these items that end up being junk to us, but could become another mans greatest treasure.
