Basement Storage Organization

The basement storage was filled with memories and miscellaneous items making the storage space overwhelming to find what is needed

The Challenge
Years of accumulated items with no system can leave a storage room feel cluttered, overwhelming, and difficult to maintain. Letting go of items that hold memory isn't always easy - yet many of these items haven't been used in years. Holding onto items for many years became physically enduring during the decluttering process.

The Process
We donated shoes that were in good condition and thrown out a lot of old shoes. Donated chairs, books, and miscellaneous items. I went to Ikea and bought some heavy duty bins. By sorting and categorizing items, and labeling bins made this tiny room create easy access and good traffic flow.

The Result
Before decluttering the basement storage room, you'd get hit with an overwhelming feeling of chaos. Finding anything was challenging, even retreiving something as simple as a gift bag, meant you'd have to climb over boxes. After decluttering, the transformation was immediate. The room felt spacious and functional.
